Clean energy from segregated food waste
Anaerobic digestion is the greenest, most cost effective solution for dealing with segregated food waste.
In stead of sending waste to landfill or for incineration, we process it through our anaerobic digestion plant, where it is broken down by bacteria to create gas, which we then use to drive a turbine to generate electricity for the national grid and local businesses.
Using segregated food waste to make fertiliser
Another benefit from anaerobic digestion is derived from the material left over after the generation of clean energy.
This material is called digestate, which after we have pasteurised it, becomes a highly nutritious organic fertiliser for farmers to use on their crops.
“Segregated food waste” is fast becoming an outdated term to describe household leftovers… because in actual fact, nothing need go to waste at all.
